Bandai has recovered the mythical Tamagotchi with new features, integrating a camera for the first time, so that children can take pictures, but also cook and explore the world with their virtual pet, and find new friends to play with and share gifts.
Almost 25 years after its first launch on the market and with more than 82 million units sold worldwide, the Japanese company today presented this new device.
Tamagotchi Pix maintains the egg shape with which the first Tamagotchi was unveiled in the 90s and three buttons, now tactile, with which to feed and care for the virtual pet on a color screen.
Now, the company has improved the game options to enhance interaction and functionalities, adapted to the new demands of children.
The new device introduces the ability to paint, cook together with this virtual companion, or move around the real world to discover and meet new Tamagotchi friends. This is possible thanks to the incorporation of a camera for the first time, with which users will be able to take pictures and save them as a memory of their adventures in their own integrated social channel.
How Tamagotchi is educated is still important, as it will affect the gameplay in a whole new way with personal room settings or determining the pet’s future profession when it returns to its planet.
Tamagotchi Pix does not need an Internet connection, and allows you to connect with a friend’s Tamagotchi using a QR code, to play together and send gifts. As of August, it will also allow connecting ‘online’ to expand the experience with new missions, objects and gifts.
The new Tamagotchi can be configured in several languages, including Spanish, and is already available in pre-sale, in two colors: pink and purple, for 59.99 euros. It will reach toy stores and department stores at the end of May.
